start evolution.
make sure that view > preview > "show message preview" and "classic view" are enabled (the position of the classic/vertical view items is crappy - they should go into the preferences as one likely does ont change them all the time.
and the name of that items - "window" "layout" "preview" - are definitely absolutely meaningless to every user).
disable "show message preview".
enable "vertical view".
enable "show message preview".
realize that evolution still displays the classic view.

running the guadec holiday version here (means: havent checked out 2.7.3 from cvs for a week).

repaint bug

it's even worse.
after following the instructions above, enable "classic view".
now a repaint is missing (the search bar is under the table header), see this bug goes away when i resize the evolution main window.

some painting issues. Let us focus the main issue here. Im sure, by frequency an option cannot decide to be in preferences. Anyway we have a diff bug to discuss this. Ill fix this bug.
