You can download an ics file from webdev over https.

It should be possible to write an URL containg https://xxxx/cal.ics

Soren, which Evolution are you running exactly? If you're really running 2.5.x, please update to the latest stable release which is Evolution 2.6.x.

Chen: Can this be confirmed?

I also have this issue in 2.7.91.... (Ubuntu Edgy)

Maybe I'm not understanding how exactly I should specify the calendar in the dialog, as I don't know how calDAV/webcal etc relate to https...

But my calendars work fine in sunbird (even writing), using the https://sdfsdf/cal.ics syntax

The site is authenticated, and uses simple Apache WebDAV.

I have this bug as well in Evolution 2.6.1 on Ubuntu Dapper. I notice that Bug 267402 seems to mention this as well. I have the same setup as Mikael, an Apache WebDav server using authenticated HTTPS. Sunbird and Korganizer handle this correctly: you subscribe to the https:// URL, and when it needs it, the program pops up a window to ask for authentication information.

It seems to me that Evolution should be able to keep pace with sunbird and Korganizer on this front.
