GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 344347
Copy whole linux installation to a hardisk (disk-to-disk)
Last modified: 2009-10-30 16:32:32 UTC
I hope in the future version, we can use gparted to deploy to mass of computers, by cloning the entire disk to another disk.
*** Bug 346472 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
this will be in 0.3 or 0.3.1
what do we do when destination is bigger than the source? grow the last partition or fill the drive? or simply leave this extra space unallocated?
hmmz, that last sentence should be along the line of: 'grow the last partition AND fill the drive?' it's late, i'm going to get some sleep :)
Hi Joel, GParted has supported copying partitions from one disk to another disk since version 0.3. Does this enhancement address this enhancement request? On the other hand, perhaps Clonezilla is a better solution for you? Clonezilla permits you to clone multiple computers at the same time. You can read more about clonezilla at: http://clonezilla.org/
Since GParted provides the ability to copy partitions, and since Clonezilla permits cloning multiple computers at the same time I am closing this bug report.
