Crash of exchange backend when typing name into To: line
Last modified: 2006-06-01 04:47:03 UTC
From: Jeremy Dinsel <jeremy@gunix.net> To: submit@bugs.gnome.org X-Mailer: bug-buddy 2.14.0 Subject: Crash of exchange backend when typing name into To: line Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) Package: Evolution Severity: major Version: GNOME2.14.1 2.6.x Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: Crash of exchange backend when typing name into To: line Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook] Bugzilla-Version: 2.6.x BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.14.1) Description: Description of the crash: Evolution reports that exchange has crashed when the user types a persons name into the To: line. In the case, the name of the person was an address not found in the global catalog or within the user's local contacts. Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. Load evolution with an exchange account; ensure auto completion of contacts comes from local, (Contacts and Global Address Catalog) on exchange server 2. Control-N for new message (in inbox view) 3. Possibly optional: Change account from exchange address to remote LDAP address (in this case, my home mail server) 4. Type a person's email address into the To line (note that evolution appears to look up the contacts, then crashes before giving any options) Expected Results: No crashing. The product should be stable. How often does this happen? So frequently that using the exchange connector no longer seems viable. Because of this use habit, crashes occur several times per day. Switching from exchange to LDAP solves the problem. Additional Information: Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/libexec/evolution-exchange' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".
