Description Chris Shoemaker 2006-05-30 21:15:18 UTC
Three times, I've tried to add "tb@debian.org" to the cc on bug #342305

Every time, bugzilla instead added "btb@debian.org"
Comment 1 Olav Vitters 2006-05-30 21:18:57 UTC
tb@debian.org does not exist. Bugzilla does a substring match in that case, which matches btb@debian.org.
Comment 2 Chris Shoemaker 2006-05-30 23:00:29 UTC
Ah, ok. well then. It'd be nice if bugzilla actually told me what it did. What if I didn't like the substitution it came up with?

I guess this is designed behavior so I'll change this to an RFE for bugzilla to at least tell me when it thinks it knows better than I do what email address I mean.

Comment 3 Olav Vitters 2006-07-27 21:45:59 UTC
Having it ask is just an option (it would've asked if more than one other email address matched), however I dislike changing this. It defeats the easyness of just filling in part of an email address.
It should however tell you that it substituted another email address.
Comment 4 Guilherme de Siqueira Pastore 2006-07-27 23:19:58 UTC
Perhaps adding a note at the top of the result page saying "The address you tried to add to Cc was not a valid Bugzilla account, so I added <foo> instead", hopefully not with this wording? =)
Comment 5 André Klapper 2010-08-13 12:59:25 UTC
If this is still the current behaviour, is there an upstream request about this in bugzilla.mozilla.org (URL)?
Comment 6 André Klapper 2015-01-03 20:48:06 UTC
This should be upstreamed if this is still a problem. It's nothing that GNOME Bugzilla maintainers will investigate.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2018-06-16 13:29:27 UTC
After https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/DevelopmentInfrastructure , GNOME is moving its task tracking from Bugzilla to GitLab at https://gitlab.gnome.org/ as previously announced in https://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2018-May/msg00026.html . See https://wiki.gnome.org/GitLab for more information.

Hence closing this ticket as WONTFIX: There are no plans to work on Bugzilla.
