Description Andrew Ruthven 2006-05-17 01:36:57 UTC
I use subaccounts of a bank account for budgetting purposes.

I have a fortnightly SX that transfers money into these budgetting accounts.
This means that the present total for the parent (bank) account isn't what is
actually in my bank account.

It would be very helpful to have another column in the Accounts tab to show the
present total balance for an account (and all subaccounts (and their subaccounts
etc)).

There is current a future total which does do the summing of subaccounts, but
the current present total doesn't do that.

Cheers!

Are you talking about the "account hierarchy" tab window? Yes, this one unfortunately doesn't have the option to show the balance at a particular date (e. g. today).

Our proposed workaround is to open a "account overview" report with all your relevant accounts, set the date as "relative Date / today" and leave this report tab open.
Comment 2 Andrew Ruthven 2006-05-21 01:37:07 UTC
Yes I am talking about the "account hierarchy" tab window.

I assume you mean an "account summary" report. Thanks, I've done that now.

Cheers!

Use the down arrow at the top right of the account list to add a "Present Value" column to your accounts view.
Comment 5 Andrew Ruthven 2007-01-30 05:35:48 UTC
Has this been resolved in 2.0.3 or 2.0.4? As in 2.0.2 the "Present Value" column doesn't sum the value of the sub-accounts.

Since you closed this with NOTABUG, it leads me to suspect that isn't the case...
Comment 6 John Peach 2008-10-13 07:45:40 UTC
In V2.2.4 the total of sub-accounts plus the main account gets displayed in the "Accounts" tab. Therefore, I am going to close this bug. Thank you for your bug report.
