GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 341703
EOG should not create thumbnails over gnomevfs
Last modified: 2012-11-21 21:17:18 UTC
Please describe the problem: Hi, When opening an image over an ftp or ssh connection, eog begins to create thumbnails for the image collection. This may take alot of cpu. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open an image using gnomevfs Actual results: EOG takes 100% cpu Expected results: EOG should not take so much cpu time Does this happen every time? yes Other information: ubuntu dapper
What you are suggesting is to not load thumbnails on remote images? Maybe this should be an pref option. Or we could just follow the nautilus configuration on thumbnailing. Confirming.
Nautilus has an option whether or not to create thumbnails on non-local devices. Maybe this option could be reused? The gconf path is "/apps/nautilus/preferences/show_image_thumbnails" and option "local_only" disables remote thumbnailing.
