Currently the netstatus applet only detects that a cable has been inserted, but
it never actually does anything when this happens. It would be nice if it could
bring up the interface then.

On Linux you can bring an interface up using the command (where ethX is the
interface):
ifup --force ethX

I'm not sure if this feature should go into the netstatus applet or if it should
be an hotplug script.

gnome-netstatus development has been stalled [1]. Maintainers don't have
future development plan so i am closing the bugs as WONTFIX.
