GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 340543
Automatically bring up interface cable is inserted
Last modified: 2011-07-10 02:44:01 UTC
Currently the netstatus applet only detects that a cable has been inserted, but it never actually does anything when this happens. It would be nice if it could bring up the interface then. On Linux you can bring an interface up using the command (where ethX is the interface): ifup --force ethX I'm not sure if this feature should go into the netstatus applet or if it should be an hotplug script. Btw, the bug below is related to this bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-netstatus/+bug/41747
I think this works now, can probably be closed.
gnome-netstatus development has been stalled [1]. Maintainers don't have future development plan so i am closing the bugs as WONTFIX. [1] http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2011-June/msg00073.html
