Description Marc Milgram 2006-04-17 17:53:05 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 5 (Bordeaux)
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: Normal
Version: GNOME2.14.0 2.14.x
Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc
Synopsis: The clock applet uses huge amounts of memory
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: clock
Bugzilla-Version: 2.14.x
Description:
Description of Problem:
Initially clock-applet uses about 7MB of writable memory. After
clicking on the applet in order to view the calendar, the amount of
memory used jumps to 36MB. Each time the calendar is openned, it uses
more memory. The only way to reclaim the memory is to kill
clock-applet.

One time I found it using over 500 MB of memory -- killing the
performance of my system.

I do have several calendars set up in Evolution. I don't know if this
is related to remote calendars.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Add Calendar-applet to a menu bar
2. Start System Monitor. Display the writable memory of
calendar-applet
3. Left-click on the date - in order to open the calendar.
4. Close the calendar
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to see effect.

Actual Results:
Writable memory for calendar-applet keeps increasing.

Expected Results:
Writable memory increases the first time the calendar is displayed, but
negligably after that.

How often does this happen?
Every time.
