Icon very small on the desktop
Last modified: 2010-04-29 13:37:50 UTC
Please describe the problem: When added on the desktop, the banshee icon is abnormally small. Steps to reproduce: 1) Click Applications>Sound and Video in the top panel 2) right click on Banshee and add to desktop 3) Notice Banshee is now on the desktop but the icon is abnormally small. Actual results: the banshee icon is very small Expected results: the banshee icon has the same size than all other's on the desktop Does this happen every time? yes Other information: Ubuntu Bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/35065
According to Sebastien Bacher this should be a nautilus bug... the same happens for the sound-juicer .desktop file too and probably all others that have an icon with only small sizes and a svg one that nautilus doesn't want to use
This is a hicolor bug. Or rather, perhaps an Icon Theme Spec bug. The hicolor index.theme specifies different sizes for the scalable directory, than the icons actually are. This means it loads the icon and scales it as if it were on a much larger canvas, than it actually is.
If application icons is placed in 48x48 instead of scalable in hicolor it will look ok, as hicolor looks for a 128x128 icon if asked for scalable it appears.

Is this still an issue? Just tried with 2.28 and couldn't reproduce - but it might depend on the theme...
This used to be a bug in Banshee. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 495279 ***
