I have no menu in Edit to toggle the visibility of the time slider.
I saw this bug in 2 systems, both ubuntu dapper, it not limited to one language as it appears in French and in English.

Yeah, I agree that the should be one. The slider is not needed for 100% of the users.

Is this a regression of bug 152723? And shouldn't that bug be closed by now?

I think the whole RBHeader should have an option to be hidden. I'm writing a plugin to change the way of showing the current song to rhythmbox but I didn't find a way to hide it and use my own plugin.
