Problems with list view:

1) thumbnail too large => can't see enough videos at once in the list
   suggestion: make it possible to see ~6-8 videos in the window for the default 
   window size
2) columns cluttered
   suggestion: use a two-line format that explains itself, with no headers

e.g.:
   +-------+
   |       | <b>matrix.dv</b> -- 00:03:24
   |       | <i>Audio and video, DV, 768x576, 25 fps</i>
   +-------+

If this were the case, you could default to list view instead of icon view. I think it would be neat :)
