GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 336057
The "About Panel" dialogue can't be closed by pressing the "Close" button
Last modified: 2006-03-29 16:39:22 UTC
Please describe the problem: The "About Panel" dialogue can't be closed by pressing the "Close" button. Steps to reproduce: 1. Choose the "About Panel" menu item from the panel context menu 2. Press the "Close" button to close the "About" dialogue Actual results: The dialogue remains open. Expected results: Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
It works here. Does it happen for all other about dialogs?
I haven't noticed this before, but it works in some apps and not in others. Same for applets.
Does it work with the keyboard?
If you mean closing the window using the keyboard accelerator for gtk-close or focusing the close button and pressing Enter, then no, it doesn't work either.
This is really weird. I don't see why it would work in some apps and not in some others... Anyway, if it's not only happening in gnome-panel, then there's a good chance it's a GTK+ bug.
Works fine here with every about dialog I have tried. If the reporter sees this specifically with the panel about dialog, chances are it is due to something specific in the panel. Can we get some version numbers here, for the panel and GTK+ ?
Matthias, in comment #2, Victor wrote that "it works in some apps and not in others." So it's not only a panel issue.
In any case, this bug is too currently too vague to do anything about it...
I have just update GNOME and GTK to HEAD , and this is still happening. Some non-working applets are clock, window switcher, window list Working applets: weather, notes, volume, system monitor Non-working apps incluse gnome-panel, nautilus, gnome-terminal Working apps: epiphany, totem, gconf-editor
