Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-03-19 18:05:26 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/35347

"...ever thought about having 100 such bookmarks?"
Comment 1 Bruce van der Kooij 2007-10-16 06:43:53 UTC
(also posted at Launchpad)

I use the Nautilus bookmarks functionality to quickly navigate to important folders (favorite locations), the possibility to use "subfolders" such as requested here would greatly improve the categorization of these bookmarks. Note, that this also affects the GNOME Panel Menubar (places).
Comment 2 Lubosz Sarnecki 2007-12-05 23:27:35 UTC
Since nautilus is powerful enough i use it to manage files from locations like ftp, ssh and smb. so my bookmarks got numerous easily.
it would be a huge enhancement to add another layer to this feature to get a better overview. the possibility to set custom icons or protocol influenced icons (i.e. local, network, online) will also be nice.

thank you for creating my favorite file browser!

I support this request. It would be very useful to can class bookmarks into subfolders.
Comment 4 A. Walton 2009-06-20 18:46:51 UTC
Adding depends on bug #147434, since we'd need to update GtkFileChooser and Nautilus at the same time to support this.

As explained in comment 2 and by many other comments on the launchpad thread, the use case for this was bookmarks for remote servers.

At the time this was reported, there was no list of Recent Servers, so servers had to be saved in bookmarks.

This is no longer the case. Currently, remote URLs are saved on a list of Recent Servers, not on the Bookmarks list.

Therefore, marking this old bug as obsolete.
