GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 334155
Escape character gets bound to zoom in when using more than one language
Last modified: 2008-10-09 14:43:49 UTC
Please describe the problem: When more than one language layout is used, the ctrl+] escape character doesn't work anymore but is instead bound to the zoom in. Steps to reproduce: 1. add spanish language layout 2. open a telnet session 3. try to use ctrl+] to escape Actual results: The terminal zooms in (text gets bigger) Expected results: The ^] character should be echoed to the telnet session Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
If you type only ], without pressing control, what is echoed in the terminal?
Hi ] gets echoed: [peter@dell ~]$ telnet www.google.com 80 Trying 72.14.203.99... Connected to www.google.com (72.14.203.99). Escape character is '^]'. ] Also, this is on Fedora Core 4.
That probably is a problem with the Spanish keyboard layout. I can reproduce it with Spanish, but no other layout that I tried (including Iranian and French for example.)
I can also reproduce it with the German (Basic) layout, in other words, having two layouts configured: USA & Deutsch
