Description Rob 2006-03-06 23:35:16 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Other DVD players can play DVD's. But I can't play any DVD's in totem. I tried
uninstalling the totem, totem-gstreamer packages in Ubuntu Breezy Badger and
reinstalling them but it made no difference.

I get this error - "Failed to find mount point for device /dev/hdc in /etc/fstab"

Strange the mount point is in fstab! I get the error no matter if the DVD is
already mounted or not.

Any ideas?

Rob

Steps to reproduce:
1. Put DVD in computer
2. Click Movie - Play Disc
3.

Actual results:
You get the error message - "Failed to find mount point for device /dev/hdc in
/etc/fstab"

Expected results:
Start playing of DVD

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
There is no small icon beside "Play Disc" in Movie menu.

That's because of Ubuntu's pmount setup (we don't even look in /etc/fstab to tell the truth, we use gnome-vfs).

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

Thanks for the info. I just upgraded totem to v 1.2.1. I still have the same error.

bug 318401 is marked fixed. Is there a released version of totem with th bug fix? What version of totem do I need?

Rob

It should be fixed in 1.3.0 and above. If it still doesn't work, please file a bug with Ubuntu. Totem just uses gnome-vfs nowadays, so that would mean that gnome-vfs would be broken on Ubuntu wrt. volume management.
