GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 332942
Evolution should try to silently reconnect when imap connections drop.
Last modified: 2013-09-13 00:51:41 UTC
Bug in novell bugzilla https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=134537 Often when I select a folder on an imap server after having viewed folders that are local, or on a different imap server, I see the error: "Error while refreshing folder. IMAP4 server <server> unexpectedly disconnected: invalid argument." If I go to another folder, then come back to the folder that gave this error, it works fine. It seems that if the error were silently caught, and a reconnect was attempted, the user would never have to be burdened with this annoyance. Comment #3 From S Shreyas 2006-02-16 02:03 MST [reply] Private Can you export CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 and then run evolution and give me the Debug spew. The server may disconnect due to various reasons. It can be evolutions fault if it does not send out peroidic NOOP message and lets the connection drop. If the server drops the connection randomly, the folder sync operation fails. That error message cannot be supressed, cos ideally even if the re-connect does not work then the user needs to know the state of evolution. The Send/ Receive reconnects to the server anyway, at the next automatic mail check interval. I am not really sure what your exact scenario is, so the debug spew will help in getting a fix for this. Evolution version 2.5.90.
poornima, isn't this just refering to the UI and not the issue itself? the ui should not bother with a popup. to me this is another duplicate of bug 247373. comments?
