GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 330831
exits when dbus/hal is restarted
Last modified: 2006-02-16 23:54:32 UTC
If you restart dbus/hal (on dapper with /etc/init.d/dbus restart) then gnome-power-manager exits. It should simply sit around for dbus to restart again.
Okay, it now works okay if HAL is restarted, but messagebus is a harder nut to crack.
I can't even test restarting messagebus, as restarting it takes down half my system, network, applets, mail, etc. I think dbus system service is low level enough to be considered a "restart at next reboot" type service. Talking to David Zeuthen, he seems to agree, and goes further to say that a decent kernel should probably provide dbus, and that's the way it should be considered. If you can test this, and provide a patch, I'll merge it, but for now I'll close as WONTFIX.
