Description Rui Matos 2006-02-01 18:00:34 UTC
Before, when the statusbar was visible it was possible to see a progress bar
when the user used Open from the browser on a PDF file link. Evince would come
up and load the remote file displaying a progress bar reassuring the user that
the program was "doing something" even the file was big and/or the users
bandwidth was low.

Now, without the statusbar I propose the inclusion of the progress bar for
remote file loading elswhere but visible. A solution is to put it on the canvas:
a rectangular box with a progress bar similar to the one you get when pumping
up/down the volume with the laptop's multimedia keys.

An alternative which would be even better is if evince could start rendering the
PDF even before the file completly downloads if it is technically possible at
all (I don't know anything about the pdf format and poppler internals).

I've fixed it in CVS in rather different way, but I think it's appropriate. Thanks for reporting.
