I have 2.2.9 GIMP installed on win 2k with gtk 2.4.14. As it's the very first time I have problems with GIMP I'm a bit confused. When attempting to save the picture after scanning the GIMP refused to work sending the report:
**warning(recursed)**: Couldn't load font "MS Sans Serif 9" falling back to "Sans 9" aborting... 
And after OK application closes.

That's explained in the FAQ and it has been reported hundreds of times.
