Description Alan Meyer 2005-12-19 22:24:50 UTC
When performing a Save As of a JPEG image, the program always selects a quality
level of 85, and various "advanced" options. A user may modify any of these
defaults to save an image, and the modifications will be remembered while the
GIMP is open. But when the GIMP is closed, the option selections are lost and
the defaults re-appear.

It would be a useful little refinement if the user could store his own custom
defaults for this dialog. This might be done by editing the .gimprc, or by
adding a "Save options as new defaults" button - which ideally might modify the
.gimprc or some other text file to actually store the information.

It might also be useful if the user selected defaults were used with the "Save"
as well as the "Save As" commands. It's not clear to me now what options are
used now when selecting the "Save" command.

Obviously, these are low priority enhancements, but ones that I and other users
I know would use.

Thank you for all the wonderful work done on the GIMP!
