Description Björn Lindqvist 2005-12-13 17:20:50 UTC
Hi. I wrote about this issue on the usability list and there were quite a few
who concurred with me so I'm opening a bug about it. My arguments are in this
thread: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/usability/2005-December/msg00000.html My
main complaint is that the dialog opens in collapsed mode and almost always
guesses wrong. It therefore requires me to spend extra time finding the
directory I want to save in. I suggest that the dialog be reverted to a "normal"
Save as"-dialog at least until apps can guess which directory you want to save
in intelligently enough. If that is not good, then I suggest that the default be
the normal "Save as"-dialog and that apps can request to use the
collapsed/expanded one if they so choose. If neither of the above is
satisfactory, then I suggest a GConf key so that users can turn it off.
