GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 323918
Anjuta 1.2.4 won't start
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Distribution/Version: 6.0 (amd64) After some updates to Gnome 2.12.2 on my FreeBSD 6.0 (amd64) system, Anjuta won't start at all - after the splash screen of anjuta it just crashes. Gnome Bug-Buddy says:

Thread 1 (LWP 100184)
Same thing on gentoo. It happened after updating gtk+-2.8.8 to 2.8.9.
Yes, I can confirm the problems unter gentoo - a friend of mine has exactly the same problems after upgrading gtk+ 2.8.8 to 2.8.9. After downgrading to gtk 2.8.8 anjuta is working again. Apparently, Anjuta 1.2.4 and gtk 2.8.9 won't work together. This is a *serious* problem - I can't continue to work on a project, unfortunately, downgrading to 2.8.8 is not an option for me.

This bug alse effect Anjuta 2.0.1. The patch Jean Bréfort provided needs only a little change to apply to Anjuta 2.0.1 - anjuta-encoding.c has moved from src/ to libanjuta/. That's all, pretty easy.
