GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 323797
evince should start maximized when a per-document size is not set
Last modified: 2005-12-29 22:09:22 UTC
Distribution/Version: ubuntu dapper drake Rationale: Jeff has a 19" 1280x1024 LCD monitor. When he wants to read text, he likes to be actually able to read it at maximum size, taking the whole screen (because you are supposedly not doing anything else meanwhile). Currently, he has to manually maximize each document he opens, and finds that very annoying. Besides, having the document automatically maximized has some other usability benefits : - it does not cram itself in the upper-left corner of the screen if other windows are open - the scrollbar on the right gets easier to use, because you can ram your mouse on the right screen edge and hit the scrollbar very easily. Please see these two screenshots. The first one represents the default space used by epiphany to display PDFs. http://img499.imageshack.us/my.php?image=evinceistoosmall3yg.png The second represents the space that could be "put to profit" and allows much easier reading. http://img499.imageshack.us/my.php?image=evinceisbetter1hs.png
Should be fixed in CVS. If your Jeff will maximize some document, other new documents will start maximized also.
Good to hear, thanks for your concern ;) I'm looking forward to try the next release!
