Description Francis Bezooyen 2005-12-03 17:39:39 UTC
When opening Tiff images that were created using Photoshop 7 or cs, the
following error message occurs:

"Unknown field with tag 34665 (0x8769) encountered"

sometimes the message will repeat several times upon a single opening.

Despite this the images, when opened, do not contain any apparent flaws
visually. But I wonder if they might were they compared to the same file
opened in Photoshop.

To the best of my knowledge these tiff files do not contain any unusual
information, such as layers (photoshop can create tiff files that support
layers).

This problem is not encountered when opening Tiff files created in gimp.

That's the tag for EXIF metadata. So the image data is intact, only the metadata
is lost. There's already a bug tracking EXIF handling for TIFF.

For future reference, you could have found this on your own if you searched for
bugs in bugzilla, and pasted that exact error message you gave here in the "A
comment contains all of the words/strings" field.
