GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 322115
Browser and search should work in playlists
Last modified: 2005-11-22 10:55:53 UTC
The browser and search should also function in playlists (both manual and automatic), for very long (especially automatic) playlists, browser and search functionality is a must because the playlists are too long to scroll through. Playlists are often used as means to manage an entire subset of a music library, not just a place to keep a single artist or to hold tracks to burn to a CD. This would mirror standard functionality in other players such as iTunes. I could have sworn that this was available in an earlier version of rhythmbox, was this functionality removed?

I guess I was imagining that this feature was present in rhythmbox because it appears that it is a duplicate of bug #118862, which was opened back in 2003! I suppose since rhythmbox seems to have come so far in the last few months in CVS with podcast, DAAP support etc., that I have began to use it much more, and therefore assumed that this would have been standard functionality long ago. Really, this is more important than the current "low" priority assigned to it, because it is a major expectation of any user new to rhythmbox that they should be able search and/or browse a playlist. Sorry I don't have code to do, but it should probably be bumped up in priority nonetheless. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 118862 *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 118862 ***
