GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 321145
Pressing / does not activate find in yelp
Last modified: 2009-09-22 01:48:06 UTC
This bug has been opened here: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/3220 "Unlike other programs that allow searching (firefox, evince) pressing / in yelp does not activate typeahead find (although yelp's find is typeahead anyway) Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to System -> Help . 2. In the Help Topics window press / . Expected results: Find dialog to appear at the bottom of the window as in some other programs. Actual results: Nothing happens. Additional information: If you use Ctrl-F to get the find dialog up pressing escape does not dismiss it as in other programs."
I've started a discussion on the usability list about this: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/usability/2005-November/msg00023.html

It'd be nice to have ' activate serch-linux-text mode like it does in other mozilla-based apps as well.
Still here in Ubuntu Gutsy yelp 2.19.90-0ubuntu2
Not any more. Finally found the time to implement this without interfering with "search". Marking as Fixed. 2008-01-13 Don Scorgie <dscorgie@svn.gnome.org> * src/gtkentryaction.c: * src/gtkentryaction.h: * src/yelp-window.c: Make / activate find Make find go away when losing focus (like epiphany)
Very cool, Don. Thanks for the work.
Hurah! Thank you for adding this feature Don - this has made my week!
