GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 320944
no error message displayed when no video codec found
Last modified: 2005-11-08 16:53:30 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu 5.10 This bug is similar to #171111. When a video is played, but the gstreamer backend doesn't have a video codec for the file, no message is displayed, so the user doesn't know what happens. There's only a message on the console like : ** Message: don't know how to handle video/x-gst-fourcc-IV41, width=(int)320, height=(int)240, framerate=(double)25
So why did you open a new one instead of adding yourself to bug #171111?
:-) Because I think bug:171111 is "I can't read this video". My bug is : "when I can't read a video, there's no message to tell me so." I ran into bug:171111 when looking for dupes, that's why I mentionned it.
No, there's a GStreamer parallel bug for the "I can't read this video". 171111 is for the error message which isn't there. Let's dup them. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 171111 ***
I'm not sure it is what the original reporter of bug 171111 meant, looking at his summary + original title. But it's fine with me if you want to use bug 171111 for this. Thanks
