Description Daniel Marx 2005-11-04 02:40:50 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1. Try to create a new picture
2. Under template, select US Letter; landscape orientation
3. The program crashes

Stack trace:
I could not find Windows versions of either of the programs listed in the
stack trace FAQ. I do not know how to retrieve the Windows crash report; the
file Windows says it will send to Microsoft does not seem to exist. Here is
all the information I can copy:
AppName: gimp-2.2.exe
AppVer: 0.0.0.0
ModName: libglib-2.0.0.dll
ModVer: 2.6.6.0
Offset: 0004117d

I'm sorry; I'm not that good with computers. If anyone knows how to do a stack
trace with free tools on *Windows XP*, please email dmarx621@gmail.com.

Other information:
I'm using Windows XP Home, SP2.

Do you get the Image Size warning dialog or does GIMP crash while trying to
display this dialog?
Comment 2 weskaggs 2005-11-04 15:04:03 UTC
Could you please look at bug 317570 and check whether you are actually seeing
the same thing described there? (Note comment #12 there.)
Comment 3 Daniel Marx 2005-11-04 20:06:10 UTC
The first time I tried, I got the Image Size warning. However, I increased the
Maximum New Image size to well above what I was trying to do (to 100MB if that
helps), and the crashing still happens.

Please have a look at bug 314529 and check if it applies here.
Comment 5 Daniel Marx 2005-12-13 08:06:24 UTC
It might. My problem is with creating a new picture in the manner described
above, not with filling in strokes, but I do have gaim.
Comment 6 Michael Schumacher 2005-12-13 09:49:00 UTC
Well, then change the GTK+ as described there.
Comment 7 Michael Schumacher 2006-01-08 12:37:07 UTC
Daniel, any news?
Comment 8 Daniel Marx 2006-01-08 21:43:28 UTC
Sorry, for some reason I did not get notified of Comment 6.
Would changing GTK+ break Gaim? I really don't like messing with system files.
For me, at least, this is moot; I managed to use PowerPoint to do what I needed (make an org chart) shortly after I reported the bug, and I don't really do computer graphics.
Comment 9 Tor Lillqvist 2006-02-21 00:23:46 UTC
If you install a fresh GTK+ from a zipfile and simply adjust PATH for running GIMP only (for instance in a bat file) so that it uses the newer GTK+ it has no effect on Gaim.

IMO we can assume that it is a duplicate of bug 314529. This bug has also further instructions about how to solve it.
