Description girish r kulkarni 2005-10-27 11:49:38 UTC
On the nautilus desktop, right clicking on the desktop and selecting 'clean up
by name' arranges all the icons on the desktop in alphabetical order.

I think this feature should be able to arrange selected icons also. If the user
was to drag the mouse over, say three icons, and select 'clean up by name' these
three are the only ones which should be arranged. Currently if this was done,
all icons would be arranged - not just the ones highlighted.

I think this would be a helpful feature for gnome2 in the future.

Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
