Description Ross Burton 2005-10-25 09:50:48 UTC
If I double-click on a contact in the group chat user list then a new chat
window is opened. However, it isn't a private chat with the person.
Comment 1 Martyn Russell 2005-10-25 09:56:19 UTC
How so?

When I do it, I start a conversation with a contact as if I had just started
chatting to them from my roster. As far as I am aware it is not shared with
anyone else.
Comment 2 Ross Burton 2005-10-25 10:02:18 UTC
If I double-click on the user "bar" in the group conference "foo", the JID of
the contact is foo@conf.openedhand.com/bar, when it should be in this case
bar@openedhand.com.
Comment 3 Martyn Russell 2005-10-25 11:32:11 UTC
That sounds correct to me.

The problem is, how do you know the contact's id is bar@openedhand.com? The user
may not be on your roster and in such a case, you only know what the conference
room is telling you about that contact (which is foo@conf.openedhand.com/bar).

There might be a jabber call to find out the users ACTUAL JID, but I have not
looked at group chat enough to know if it is possible.
Comment 4 Ross Burton 2005-10-25 11:39:39 UTC
Ah, if that JID form should work, there is still a bug: it doesn't for me.
Comment 5 Martyn Russell 2005-10-25 11:44:48 UTC
Just out of interest do you know if the same scenario works with GAIM or another
client?

I am wondering if this is a gossip thing or server thing.
Comment 6 Martyn Russell 2005-12-30 19:25:51 UTC
I have fixed this, it wasn't as quick and easy as I thought it would be, but it should work ok now.
Comment 7 Ross Burton 2006-01-03 16:38:26 UTC
If I start a private chat via a conference, then the messages are from the name of the group and not me, so replies go to the wrong place.
Comment 8 Martyn Russell 2006-02-18 19:22:52 UTC
Moving to 0.11 milestone.
Comment 9 Richard Hult 2006-06-21 18:48:33 UTC
Fixed in CVS, thanks.
