Description Egmont Koblinger 2005-10-07 15:39:37 UTC
When using my fresh account and brand new Gnome desktop I double click on a
day in the calendar of Gnome panel's clock applet (which launches an
"evolution -c calendar" process in the background), a window is presented
where I cannot proceed without setting up a mailbox.

I want to use a nice handful calendar utility in gnome panel, I really don't
care if it uses evolution in turn or not, but I want to use it only to store
some calendar notes. I don't want to send/receive mails with it, I don't
have any mailboxes that could be configured here, since I either use webmail
or ssh to a remote box and run mutt there with access to local mailbox files.

So I believe evolution's calendar should be perfectly usable without the need
to specify e-mail settings there.

this bug report depends on the feature request to use evolution (calendar,
tasks, contacts) without configuring an email account. if i remember correctly,
this was set to "wontfix", but i cannot find that bug currently.

I feel we should be able to do this for 2.6. Chen: ?
Comment 3 Fausto Piovesan 2006-12-11 18:01:58 UTC
I strongly disagree with this bug severity classification. This bug should be classified with normal or major severity because it is a major loss of functionality (the software refuses to run at all).
