GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 316672
Re-enable "save subtree as a merged file" feature
Last modified: 2006-04-09 23:24:14 UTC
GConf's "save subtree as a merged file" feature was enabled as part of bug 138498 but then backed out because of backward compatibility concerns: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2004-August/msg00393.html Since it is now pretty unlikely that people are still logging in to pre-2.6 GNOME versions, this should be enabled again, especially since it gives a very hefty performance boost (7 seconds on my system). See bootcharts at: http://www.gnome.org/~lcolitti/gnome-startup/analysis/gconf-stock.png http://www.gnome.org/~lcolitti/gnome-startup/analysis/gconf-merged-noincremental.png for graphs and http://www.gnome.org/~lcolitti/gnome-startup/analysis/ for discussion.
http://blogs.gnome.org/view/markmc/2005/12/11/0 looks like this has been fixed
Nope, hasn't changed - still isn't enabled by default
It is now though (right?). Resolving.
