GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 316369
Inbox not displaying any messages
Last modified: 2006-01-03 13:32:49 UTC
Please describe the problem: i encounter a strange problem with one of my imap email accounts where the inbox is not showing any messages. looking at the INBOX properties, i see 286 unread messages and 1051 total messages. moreover, every other folder i checked is displaying the messages. looking at the ~/.evolution/mail/imap folders, evolution correctly fetches the email-headers but is not displaying anything. this only happens to one email account out of 3 on the same server. Steps to reproduce: 1. create a new imap mail. username: r.bhatia@ipax.at 2. klick on the INBOX 3. Actual results: no messages are shown in the message list window Expected results: display all messages in the message list window Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
please remove my email adress so i can avoid a big amount of spam ;)
Check if your search bar is empty or not. (You could try clearing the search bar). If the problem still persists: delete your Inbox from the cache 1. export CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 2. run evolution and select Inbox and attach the traces here.
Created attachment 52271 [details] evolution debug log after messing with ~/.evolution and ~/.gconf/apps/evolution i managed to produce this log. hopefully you can use it!
have you been able to find any usefull information in the logs?
I've got the same problem here on a fresh installation of Ubuntu 5.10 Preview (Evolution 2.4). I copied the ~/.evolution directory from my old installation and my Inbox on my IMAP server seems to be empty (altough the folder list states that there are 7 new messages and Mozilla Thunderbird does show them). I even get this if I delete the whole ~/.evolution directory and create a totally new account.
Think this is a problem with subscption of INBOX, I suggest that you re-subscribe INBOX. (un-subsribe and re-subsubscribe). This should fix the problem.
After some searching I've found a solution in this [1] thread in the ubuntu forum. This works for me. [1] http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=64222&highlight=evolution
Thats similart to comment #6. And the reason for the being, the server does not allow select on Inbox, which means Inbox is not subscribed. But Inbox appears in the tree view, since the folder already exists from the previous version of Evolution you were using. Thanks for the info. Raoul, does it work for you now?
yes - trying to unsubscribe several times solved (inbox only, all folders, etc.) the issue. thank you!
Thanks. Closing bug.
I also have exactly the same problem, unsubscribing and resubscribing to all folders solves it but only until next time I start Evolution - This issue blocks me upgrading as I have over 100 folders and it takes a very long time to resubscribe them.
to be more exact, this would have been a duplicate of bug 228929.
