GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 316356
flash colors selected in histogram
Last modified: 2018-05-24 11:37:50 UTC
Another hint for histogram: - if you select a part of histogram, show (in red? flashing?) the corrispondent pixels in the picture. This is helpful to correlate histogram to image.
How would this work? You wouldn't want to have the colors flashing all time. Does this only happen while the mouse button is being pressed?
When I drag the mouse over th histogram, a part of it would be selected. In the image, the pixels of that part of histogram will blink. When I click over the histogram again the selection disappears, and blinking areas stop blinking. At the same time, you could implement two checkboxes, one for blinking highlights and one for blinking clipped blacks. This could be useful for retouching photos, my hobby. Andrea

reopening as requested information has been provided.
Any chance to see the improved histogram in the GIMP? It's very useful for photo retouching, expecially in real time when applying levels or curves, see in ufraw (http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/) program and in any other commercial software (Adobe Lighroom , ...). Without it, it's hard to apply levels to a photo without burning the highlights or the shadows.
Any news?
Andrea, please do not put such comments into our bug-tracker. We will add a comment to this bug report for any related changes. So there is absolutely no need to ask for progress. By doing so you are stealing our time that we would like to use for implementing new features. We haven't even decided yet if we want this feature at all so this needs further discussion on the mailing-list before it is implemented.
