GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 315969
gnome-screensaver locks the screen even though the desktop is in use
Last modified: 2006-04-10 15:36:34 UTC
I quite often (5 times a day or so) get the problem that gnome-screensaver locks my screen, even though I'm still working (moving my mouse) on my desktop. I don't know how to reproduce it, but maybe others are seeing this also? It is possible that it is related to not typing on the keyboard, however, I don't think this is the case, since my timeout is set to two hours, and I can't imaging not typing for 2 hours...
I haven't been able to reproduce this. We look for keyboard input, new windows, and mouse movement too. What version are you using?
I'm using 0.0.12 on Ubuntu Breezy. michael@mayco:~$ gnome-screensaver --version gnome-screensaver 0.0.12 michael@mayco:~$ I will try the 0.0.13 today, and update this bugreport when I see it again...
Have you by any chance enabled DPMS in gconf? Are you using gnome-power-manager?
no, DPMS is disabled. I don't use gnome-power-manager
I see this with gnome-power-manager, but I have not enabled DPMS.
I have the same problem, except the screen is not locking but blanking; the blanking seems to appear at random moments when I'm typing. I am seeing this since a couple of weeks (breezy), I have DPMS enabled, and am using GNOME Power Manager 0.1.2, gnome-screensaver 0.0.13. Can I attach any additional information?
Power management was basically non-functional until today. There may have been strange blanking things happening when DPMS was enabled.
Please reopen this if you see this behaviour with version 0.0.16 or later. Thank you.
I can reproduce this with gnome-screensaver 2.14.0; the following triggers it: 1.) Suspend laptop 2.) Connect laptop to docking station with external keyboard attached 3.) Resume laptop 4.) Start typing away on the external keyboard 5.) After "Set session as idle after: "-time has expired the screen blanks/locks no matter if there's been keypress events during that time
David: I think you are experiencing bug #332576 which is fixed in CVS and 2.14.1.
