Description Dirk Heinrichs 2005-08-17 06:24:32 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I use GC 1.8.11 with data in a postgresql 8.0.3 database. When I save the data
to a file on disk, only accounts are saved, but not a single transaction.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Store data in PostgreSQL
2. Save to file
3. (Restart gnucash and) open the file

Actual results:
All accounts are there, but all transactions are gone.

Expected results:
All transactions should be kept.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

This happens to me as well on 1.8.12.

Thanks,
Curtis.

Please clarify step #2. This means 'save to an xml file', doesn't it?

Yes (for me -- I assume for the original commenter as well).

Thanks,
Curtis.

This is kind of strange. I _was_ able to reproduce this exact behavior, but when I tried again, it saved even the transactions. Still looking...
Comment 5 Chris Shoemaker 2006-05-26 01:18:29 UTC
Ok, I can't reproduce this anymore. Perhaps it's fixed.

Can you reproduce this behavior with recent svn?
Comment 6 curtis 2006-07-25 04:43:09 UTC
This is still happening to me on 2.0. Steps:

1. Open gnucash using postgres databas on command line. It opens fines.

2. The account window appears with what appears to be an accurate list of accounts and total amounts.

3. When I double click on a specific account, there is no detail in the account itself.

When looking at the database, tables like gncsplit, gncsplittrail, gnctransaction and gnctransactiontrail all have (what appears to be valid) data in them.
Comment 7 curtis 2006-08-02 18:23:28 UTC
Just an update -- I realize that my above comment only showed that data was not being imported from the postgresql database into gnucash, which may be a separate issue from (or a cause of) data not being saved to an XML file. Just wanted to confirm that data is both not appearing in GnuCash AND not being saved to the XML file.

From my perspective, I would just like to be able to get the data out somehow into the proper XML format. I've got several years' worth of data that I can't access, which is really frustrating. I would even settle for someone just pointing me to the XML format documentation (if it exists ;) so I could write a script to export it at this point.

Thanks,
Curtis.

Is this still a problem with the most recent code in trunk? The SQL backend has been completely rewritten.
