Description Richard Schwarting 2005-07-27 07:39:08 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When I insert a CD (Evanescence's Fallen), I can click play and the first track
will play. If I double click on a different track, it does not play, but the
time slider progresses from 0 to some distance into the file at 4 slider seconds
per real second without playing anything, and my GNOME desktop becomes a bit
jittery, with my mouse losing responsiveness. Sometimes, a part of the selected
song will play, and sometimes playback will normalise. Normally though, it
advances until the end, and then jumps to the next song on the CD, at which
point the Play/Pause button LOSES ITS TEXT(!) (though clicking it still has the
desired effect.

Pausing and playing when it starts silently accelerating at 4 seconds/second
does not correct the problem.

I have also tried this with several other CDs, some of which are in exceptional
condition! Hint: If I play 8 seconds into the first track, and then try
switching to another, it accelerates to around 8 seconds (usually a bit more).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert a CD (Lauren Gray's 5-Piece Bucket, for instance) into the CD drive.
2. Open Sound Juicer
3. Click Play
4. Enjoy 'n' seconds of song
5. Double click another track (say number 3)
6. Watch as the slider RACES ahead in silence until it is a bit more (sometimes
a lot more) past 'n' seconds.
BONUS 7. Wait until a song ends, and see the Play button go vanilla!

Actual results:
The slider goes whacked, yo, racing and all shizzle. It does go back to 0, though.
As well, the play button loses its label text and the slider starts running
(even without the double click!)

Expected results:
I would expect to be disappointed in my hopes for step #6. I would expect the
newly double-clicked track to start playing from 0 (where the slider does start
from) and go at a normal pace, playing sound all the way.

Does this happen every time?
Aye, cap'n.

Other information:
Wow, the new Sound Juicer is sexy! I love you, sir.
