Gnucash crashes when I try to open any account to update the transactions

Steps to reproduce: 1. I opened a file initially saved in Gnucash that comes with Mandrake linux 9.0 in Gnucash 1.8.10 on Debian 3.1 2. The file was opened and I could see the summary of all the accounts. 3. I tried to open an account to see/update the transactions and it crashed.
