Description Loïc Minier 2005-07-06 19:40:07 UTC
Hi,

In the default setup, gdm requires root password to allow shutdown or reboot
actions from the gdm greeter.

But when logging out of GNOME, the logout window offers Shutdown and Reboot
options which don't trigger the same root password check.

There seem to be no way to prevent the logout window from being able to reboot
the system.

These are Debian bugs <http://bugs.debian.org/265535> and
<http://bugs.debian.org/261980>.

Bye,

I was told the "secure menu" with root password prompting is a Debian-specific
change, sorry.

Is there any sort of protection preventing this in the current version?

I suck.
