GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 308945
"best fit" should be "whole page"
Last modified: 2005-07-11 15:51:00 UTC
The "best fit" item in the view menu zooms such that a whole page is visible. Most people expect best fit to zoom a little more in than page width, such that the text is as large as it can be while allowing a whole line of text to be seen. I'm not saying we need a true "best fit," but I think the current "best fit" item should be renamed "whole page" to avoid confusion. A whole page view is not most people's idea of best fit.
I too was confused by the label "best fit" and was not expecting "Fit Height" and like Grant I too was expecting what acrobat reader calls Fit Visible, which Zooms to page width excluding the margins. (Dont see an request asking for that feature but I would have sworn there was one.)
Bryan?
I've never liked that the "Best [Anything]" option wasn't our default. That said there seem to be two requests here. One is to rename this option, the other is to create the Fit Visible functionality. What I'd like to see is that we have a "Fit Visible" option that replaces the Best Fit, see the request in bug 169676
Ok, marking as a dup then. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 169676 ***
