Description Matthew East 2005-06-09 11:27:31 UTC
After adding a Note using the nautilus file properties, a nice icon appears over
the file icon, however the note itself cannot be viewed except by going back
into the properties. It would be very cool if the Note showed when the mouse
moves over the file icon.

We don't want to add hover-over-icon popup stuff to nautilus. It tends to get in
the way in general use when you accidentally leave the mouse over some icon.

There are many things hover-over could be useful for, and has been proposed for.
Like showing previews of the file etc. We're trying to figure out a better way
to integrate such previewing that doesn't have the negative aspects of hovering.

Is there any way to show the Note in the bottom bar of nautilus?

Please also cf. bug 307019 which is also from Matthew and suggests to show the
notes for the current selection. We still look for a clean UI design, though.
