Description Paul Harrison 2005-05-23 00:32:04 UTC
The find dialog currently obscures the document one is searching in, often
requiring one to move the dialog window to see if it found the right piece of
text. Dismissing the dialog once you have found what you want requires an
awkward key combination (alt-c).

Possible enhancements:
- dismiss search with ESC
- search dialog disappears once it has found something (would also be useful for
the go-to-line dialog)
- progressive search mode, or search bar a la Firefox
Comment 1 Paolo Borelli 2005-05-23 07:17:43 UTC
dismissing with esc was re-enabled in 2.10

The other issues are known and have been discussed at lenght... each solution
has pro and cons. At the moment we are experimenting with a search side pane.

I'll ark this as dup of 153641
