GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 302459
Right-click on mounted CD, select play
Last modified: 2005-05-12 22:44:52 UTC
Currently, when a DVD is inserted into the typical user's machine, Totem pops up and starts playing it. That's wonderful. The problem is, if the DVD is already mounted, the user is stuck! There's no easy way to get Totem to start playing the VOB files. This is true of audio CDs too. The user must eject the disc and re-insert it to get it to play! I find this pretty weird. Is it possible to add a "Play Disc" item to mounted CDs and DVDs? It would cause Nautilus to do what it normally does when the disc is first inserted. That would remove the need to do the weird eject/reinsert cycle. Thanks.
Ack. I mean: Is it possible to add "Play Disc" to the context menu that pops up when you right click the disc? That's where I would expect to find it.

The other bug is talking about launching totem when a DVD is inserted. This bug is talking about being able to launch totem even if the DVD is already mounted. I don't see the duplication...?
the other bug is about opening the DVD with nautilus when clicking on the icon instead of starting playing it with totem.
