Description Jason Powell 2005-04-29 15:34:04 UTC
Those familiar with digital audio workstations(DAW) know the solo button. Not
only would GIMP probably be the first graphic product to have this (I think)
most would find it usefull (I hope). If I have an image with seven layers
instead of having to go back and forth clicking the eye would be nice to "solo"
layers simliar to the way you can solo tracks in DAW's. Would also be nice just
like in DAW's to solo more then one layer. This would really speed up editing
for the same reason it does on DAW's

Well, what is "the way you can solo tracks in DAW"?
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2005-04-29 16:27:55 UTC
Looks like a duplicate of bug #139874 to me. Certainly needs a better
description; setting to NEEDINFO.
Comment 3 weskaggs 2005-04-29 18:00:28 UTC
It is clearly a duplicate of bug #139874.

Thanks my first bugzilla post did not see 139874. It is very similiar minus the
extra window

For those of you who are totally unfamiliar with DAW's like Nuendo, ProTools,
Adobe Audition, Sonar, Cubase etc

Say I have 52 tracks think of those as 52 layers. Normally all the tracks would
have the eye. All 52 tracks would play/be visible. If I were to hit solo the
eye would not disappear from any track for starters. A duplicate temporary
windows is also not created as in described in 139874. As it is now the shift
click undoes the eye on all but the layer you selected which leaves you putting
the eye back on those other layers. As it is now you also can't do this with
multiple layers. Solo ideally wouldnt undo the eyes it would maybe color them
indicating their solo status. Only the solo layers would be visible and you
could add or subtract solo'd layers without changing the eyes.

Your report is closer to bug #150354 then.

what about this ? clicking on the eye does a solo. where as double cliking does
the usual behaviour.
