Description frozen 2005-01-30 23:52:54 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: GNOME2.8.1 2.0.3
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: Can't sign with GnuPG AND a certificate
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer
Bugzilla-Version: 2.0.3
Description:
Description of Problem:
I have both, a gpg signature, and a certificate. When I send e-mails
and want them signed with both, my gpg signature and the certificate,
upon veryfing it I will get a GPG "Broken pipe" error. I'm not sure if
it's a GnuPG bug, or maybe about how Evolution "packs" or "unpacks" the
S/Mime encrypted mail. It doesn't happen if the e-mail is encrypted,
though. Only if the e-mail is just signed.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Write an e-mail.
2. Sign it both, with gpg and S/MIME
3. Do NOT encrypt it.

Actual Results:

The e-mail appears to have a "Valid signature", since the certificate
signature IS valid, but I can't verify the gpg signature as well (a
problem, when some people DO trust my gpg signature, but not yet have
accepted the root certificate of my CA).

I'm pasting the error message with some headers:

Error verifying signature
Failed to GPG verify: Broken pipe

gpg: armor header: Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux)
gpg: CRC error; 4a6fb5 - dc34a6
gpg: quoted printable character in armor - probably a buggy MTA has been
used

It happens on sent mails (on the "Sent" folder) and upon receiving mails
from other Evolution users.

Expected Results:

Both signatures verifyed, and, at least, no error message.

How often does this happen?

Every time, as long as the message is not encrypted.
