GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 270156
LDAP password intermittently forgotten, won't authenticate until next restart
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:03:26 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: I've got an LDAP server (M$ Exchange 2000) configured in evolution. It requires authentication. The first time accessing the server in a session, Evo prompts for a password and I enter it, making sure to check the "Remember password" checkbox. After a while, however, when trying to access the contacts, Evo prompts again for the password and this time it won't accept it (just keeps saying Authentication Failed and asks for the password again). I thought it might be an Exchange problem, but ldap_search still works even in the middle of Evo prompting for the password. If I quit and re-start Evo, it prompts once and accepts the password (until the next time this problem crops up). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Add an LDAP (in my case Exchange 2000) server to Evo which requires authentication. Select "Remember password". 2. After authenticating and accessing the LDAP server once, wait a while and try to access it again. Actual Results: Evo continually fails to authenticate and prompts for the password. Expected Results: Evo should never fail to authenticate after the first successful attempt because I selected "Remember password". At any rate, it should accept the password when I re-enter it. How often does this happen? Intermittently, but basically gauranteed to happen eventually (say, after 4 hours) for every session. Additional Information:
please add further info as asked in bug 267541 there itself. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 267541 ***
