GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 270025
Evolution Composer not picking up Proportional Display Font Pref
Last modified: 2017-02-09 13:35:26 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: In Evolution 2.0.2, the composer uses the default "Application Font" for proportional HTML text, even if the proportional font preference for "Message Fonts" is set differently. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to Tools->Settings->Mail Preferences, under "Message Fonts", uncheck "Use the same font as other applications", choose a serif font for the "Standard font". 2. Compose a new message. Actual Results: Proportional font in message area is standard GNOME widget font (usually sans-serif). Expected Results: Proportional font in message area is serif font selected under "Steps to reproduce." How often does this happen? Always Additional Information This behavior does not occur in Evolution 1.4.6 (or any 1.x release, as far as I recall).
rich, could you test this again with 2.2?
is this the same as bug 271627?
still happens in 2.2.x
I am able to reproduce this bug in evolution-2.2.2 with the following versions of gtkhtml: gtkhtml2-3.6.2.0.200505251324-0.snap.novell.0.1 libgtkhtml-2.6.1-2.1
moving ancient 2.2 milestone to ancient 2.4 milestone. at least.
removing old target milestones
Bumping version to a stable release.
Bug still valid in evolution-3.10.4 with gtkhtml-4.6.6 (in Ubuntu 14.04) Minor change to steps to reproduce: In step 1, settings is called instead from "Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences" Font used is the one specified in dconf org.gnome.desktop.interface font-name. If dconf setting is edited, currently open composer is not affected, while newly opened composers will reflect the dconf setting (not evolution setting). The plain text editor honors evolution setting.
GtkHtml is not under active development anymore. Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
