GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 261650
one email recipient can become two email addresses
Last modified: 2021-05-19 12:13:57 UTC
using evolution1.5-1.5.90.0.200407090432-0.snap.ximian.8.1. to reproduce: compose an email and send it/save it to the outbox (no gpg or anything included). if the recipient is of the form of one of these email addresses: - "Dr. John Doe <devnull@iomc.xyz>" - "John Doe Jr. <doe@iomc.xyz>" everything is as expected. if i enter the recipient "George W. Bush, Jr. <bush@whitehouse.gov>", this will become "Jr. <bush@whitehouse.gov>" okay. i can understand that. but: "Dr. John Doe, Jr. <doe@iomc.xyz>" gets "Dr.JohnD <oe>, Jr. <doe@iomc.xyz>" and "Dr. John Smith, Sr. <doe@iomc.xyz>" gets "Dr.JohnS <mith>, Sr. <doe@iomc.xyz>" there seems to be a parsing/token error. hmm...not sure about the component. is this mailer or addressbook? assigning to mailer, please change if necessary.
Contacts.
Needs to be rechecked with the new select names stuff.
updating state of the art for evolution-2.1.3.2.0.200501160930-0.snap. ximian.10.1: Dr. John Doe <devnull@iomc.xyz> gets Dr. John Doe <devnull@iomc.xyz> George W. Bush, Jr. <bush@whitehouse.gov> gets Jr. <bush@whitehouse.gov> Dr. John Doe, Jr. <doe@iomc.xyz> gets Jr. <doe@iomc.xyz>, Dr.JohnD <oe> Dr. John Smith, Sr. <doe@iomc.xyz> gets Sr. <doe@iomc.xyz>, Dr.JohnS <mith> so with the last two ones, it's just the other way round. :-(
still as described in the last comment in evolution-2.2.0.0.200503210410-0.snap.ximian.10.1; retargetting to 2.3.
Reassigning bugs that no longer belong to me.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
