GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 257510
Long To-lists should be shortened with expand/collaps UI
Last modified: 2006-03-30 18:56:19 UTC
When you get an e-mail which has *a lot* of receivers, the entire mailer window is filled up with the To list, forcing you to scroll the window. Mozilla and Mozilla Thunderbird has solved this by only displaying a few of the recipients if the To-list is really long, and allowing the user to expand to see the full To-list if they want. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open an e-mail sent to a large group of people (say 100) Notice that the whole window is filled with receivers, forcing you to scroll to see the e-mail message itself. I will attach two screenshots showing the same e-mail, in both Evolution and Mozilla Thunderbird.
Created attachment 43619 [details] A message with many receivers opened in Evolution
Created attachment 43620 [details] Same message shown in Mozilla Thunderbird; the To-list is shortened with an option to expand it
By the way, bug 223006 is related to this one, but not a duplicate.
This is also a problem because it takes Evolution a long time to display all those email addresses.
I vote for this bug too. I frequently get email where the to-list takes up 95% of the message, and I have to scroll scroll scroll all the way down to the bottom to see a few lines of content.
changing component to "Mailer" to get rid of the UI component, also reassigning as discussed with nags... adding UI keyword.
